Applications for the 2020-2021 Executive Board are now open! The Big Event is a wonderful organization dedicated to service, volunteerism, and extending a BIG thank you to our community.
Applications will close on Friday, April 17, 2020.
If selected to serve on The Big Event's Executive Board, your position duties will begin in May 2020 and will end in May 2021.

Executive Director (ED)
The ED is responsible for overseeing the operations of the executive board. The ED supervises each director and their associated committees to ensure that the work is getting done efficiently and effectively.
Director of Volunteer Recruitment (DVR)
The DVR is responsible for the promotion of The Big Event and it's recruitment of students, staff, and faculty that will make up the day-of volunteers. The DVR oversees and manages a group of Assistant Directors to ensure campus-wide knowledge of The Big Event.
Assistant Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life Recruitment (ADFSL)
The ADFSL works with the DVR and Greek Life professionals on campus to implement a recruitment strategy targeting the vibrant fraternity & sorority life on campus.
Assistant Director of Large Organization Recruitment (ADLOR)
The ADLOR works with the Office of Student Engagement & Leadership and the DVR to identify and recruit organizations with over 100 student members.
Assistant Director of Small Organization Recruitment (ADSOR)
The ADSOR works with the Office of Student Engagement & Leadership and the DVR to identify and recruit organizations with less than 100 student members.
Assistant Director of Freshmen Recruitment (ADFR)
The ADFR works closely with the Office of First-Year Experience and the DVR to implement a recruitment strategy targeting first-year students.
Director of Fundraising (DF)
The DF is responsible for developing and implementing a fundraising plan to reach the goal set by the executive board. The DF oversees and manages a group of Assistant Directors to ensure fundraising goals are met.
Assistant Director of Fundraising Events (ADFE)
The ADFE is responsible for coordinating small fundraising events such as local giveback nights or community fundraising initiatives.
Assistant Director of Alumni Outreach (ADAO)
The ADAO works closely with the DF and the Alumni Association to encourage continued support to The Big Event. Additionally, the ADAO works with past executive board members who now identify as alumni.
Assistant Director of Flocking Fundraiser (ADFF)
The ADFF works directly with the annual flocking fundraiser. This fundraiser involves university officials, students, and community members. Utilizing The Big Event's mascot, the flamingo, the flocking fundraiser puts multiple garden flamingos in peoples' yards.
Director of Sponsorships (DS)
The DS works to obtain in-kind and large monetary donations that reach sponsorship level. The DS oversees and manages a group of Assistant Directors to ensure sponsorship goals are met.
Assistant Director of In-Kind Donations (ADIKD)
The ADIKD works with the DS to identify day-of needs for The Big Event and works to ensure those needs are met. Examples of in-kind donations are: water, breakfast, raffle items, etc. (non-monetary donations)
Assistant Director of Business Sponsorships (ADBS)
The ADBS works with the DS to establish relationships with businesses in the Acadiana community who may want to sponsor The Big Event. The ADBS also works to ensure that the sponsorship agreement is held up with both parties.
Assistant Director of Individual Sponsorships (ADIS)
The ADIS works closely with the DS and DF to identify individuals who may want to sponsor The Big Event. The ADIS also works to develop and maintain a relationship with those individuals.
Director of Training & Partnerships (DTP)
The DTP is responsible for coordinating all things service and training. This includes project site recruitment and matching for The Big Event. The DTP is also responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with the Office of Community Service & Sustainability, Americorps, and other nonprofit organizations in the Acadiana community. The DTP oversees and manages a group of Assistant Directors to ensure The Big Event goals are met.
Assistant Director of Nonprofit Outreach (ADNO)
The ADNO works to establish relationships with various nonprofit organizations in the Acadiana community. Additionally, the ADNO collaborates with the Office of Community Service & Sustainability to ensure university guidelines are being met for project site recruitment, communications and outreach, and overall recommended volunteerism for UL Lafayette students.
Assistant Director of Sustainability (ADS)
The ADS works with the Office of Community Service & Sustainability to share educational information about zero-waste initiatives and The Big Event's role in grants for the University. Additionally, the ADS discusses the environmental impact that The Big Event has on our world, wetlands, and local community.
Assistant Director of Service Projects (ADSP)
The ADSP is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing service projects for The Big Event executive board. The ADSP also assists the DTP with project site matching for The Big Event.
Assistant Director of Flock Leader Training (ADFLT)
The ADFLT is responsible for developing and implementing the training for Flock Leaders. Flock Leaders are the "team" leads for groups of volunteers - otherwise known as flocks.
Director of Logistics (DL)
The DL is responsible for all day-of logistics for The Big Event. The DL is also responsible for any university reservations, including but not limited to, tabling and room reservations. The DL oversees and manages a group of Assistant Directors to help with logistics for The Big Event.
Assistant Director of Opening Ceremony (ADOC)
The ADOC is responsible for assisting with the development of the Opening Ceremony for the day-of The Big Event.
Assistant Director of Community Fair (ADCF)
The ADCF is responsible for planning and implementing the One Big Community Fair following The Big Event.
Director of Strategic Communications (DSC)
The DSC is responsible for leading the development of strategic communications programs and elevating The Big Event's profile. Efforts include internal and external brand messaging, development, and management; media relations strategist; development of key messaging; cultivating and creative conversations around volunteerism, service-learning, and sustainability. The DSC oversees and manages a group of Assistant Directors who help achieve The Big Event marketing and communications goals.
Assistant Director of Content Development (ADCD)
The ADCD serves as a graphic designer, photographer, videographer, and overall social media ambassador for The Big Event. The ADCD is also responsible for product design and creation.
Assistant Director of Public Relations (ADPR)
The ADPR manages the communications calendar and outreach to news publications such as TV stations, newspapers, and other public relations outlets. The ADPR is responsible for building and maintaining a positive public image for The Big Event.
