The Big Event BACKUP RAIN SCHEDULE

7:30 - Check-in at Blackham Coliseum

All students are asked to carpool and to make their way to one of seven available parking lots no later than 7:30 am. There is limited space in these lots; please fill these lots in this order:

  1. Blackham Coliseum (accessed via Cajun Dome Blvd)
  2. St. Landry Extension Field (accessed via St. Landry or Coliseum Drive)
  3. Intramural Fields (accessed via Coliseum Drive)
  4. Print Shop Lot (accessed via Coliseum Drive)
  5. Bourgeois Hall (accessed via Cajun Dome Blvd)
  6. Fraternity/Sorority Row (accessed via Reinhart Blvd)
  7. Cajun Field (accessed via Reinhart Blvd, W. Congress Street, or Bertrand Drive)

The participants’ vehicles will remain on site until the conclusion of the opening ceremony, at which time the students will return to their vehicles so as to make their way to their corresponding work locations.

Please proceed into Blackham for check-in. Teams leaders will check-in their team. At check-in students will receive a t-shirt, bottle of water, and bag of chips.

Team Leaders must check in at 7:00 a.m. to receive their team assignment packet.

 

8:00 a.m. - Opening Ceremony

After students check in, they should feel free to mingle and enjoy the atmosphere of this beautiful day of community service!

I. Welcome - Brief statement of hospitality. Informing students of what will take place during the ceremony and also during the day's events.

II. Moment of Silence- Expression for a period of silent contemplation, prayer, reflection, or meditation.

III. Pledge of Allegiance

IV. National Anthem- sung by members of the UL Lafayette Gospel Choir

     2. Ms. Margaret Trahan (CEO of United Way of Acadiana)
     3. Ms. Lindsey Lejeune (First Executive Director of The Big Event)

8:30 a.m. - Departure to community sites

After opening ceremony, teams will car pool to their project site. Each team will have contact information for their site coordinator as well as emergency contacts.

All team leaders will be checking their rolls at the site before the project starts.
