Saturday, September 1, 2018 @ Cajun Field
Freshmen Red Run 2018 is a Ragin' Cajun tradition where all members of the freshman class get to run out of the tunnel onto Cajun Field as part of the pregame activities. Led by university president Dr. E. Joseph Savoie and the UL Athletic Director, it is one of the most memorable experiences UL Lafayette offers to its students. No sign up is necessary!
Freshmen First Down (football tailgating)
Saturday Sept. 2
Bourgeois Park - UPC tent
Freshmen First Down is a free tailgating event that is one of our Ragin' Cajun Traditions! Come to the UPC (University Program Council) tent during pre-game tailgating at Bourgeois Park (located across the street from Bourgeois Hall). Look for the large white tent with UPC on it and red Freshmen First Down banners and yard signs. Residential students can take the bus from campus and get off at the Bourgeois Hall bus stop. When you walk through the tunnel underneath the bus stop you will be in Bourgeois Park and in the heart of student tailgating.
Fast pass wristbands
Scan your Cajun Card at UPC tent during tailgaiting to receive a wristband which will allow you to skip the long line at Gate E once the stadium opens. If you bring a clear bag with your personal items you will still have to go through bag check at the stadium, but your wristband will allow you quick access inside through Gate E. We highly suggest only bringing essential personal items which can fit in your pockets to avoid carrying a bag. Don’t forget your CAJUN CARD!
Saturday Sept. 1
Leave from the UPC tailgating tent at 5pm
After meeting at the UPC tent to tailgate and get your fast pass wristband, follow the police escort at 5:00 pm over to Cajun Field to line up for the Red Run. Freshmen will get the once-in-a-lifetime chance to go behind the scenes at the stadium and run through the tunnel onto Cajun Field and up into the stands! Your Peer Mentors will be directing you to the tunnel entrance and will give you an exclusive Red Run tshirt to put on over your outfit before you take on the Red Zone. First 1,000 freshmen get Red Run t-shirts.
