All faculty and staff are invited to New Student Convocation at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette on Thursday, Aug. 22 at the Cajundome. Arrive at 3 p.m. and the ceremony begins at 3:30 p.m.
While you have undoubtedly helped many students who have come through the University, your presence at Convocation will show incoming students that you are enthusiastic about the academic journey ahead of them.
Information for Faculty
Faculty will process into the Cajundome at the beginning of New Student Convocation.
Meet in the Mardi Gras Ballroom at the Cajundome at 3 p.m. and wear your regalia. Commencement is a celebration of student success and accomplishment; Convocation is the kickoff for those efforts. Wearing your academic regalia to the ceremony reinforces the understanding that this academic event celebrates students' potential and opportunity.
Information for Staff
Staff should arrive at 3 p.m. Please dress nicely, preferably wearing a UL Lafayette polo or button-up with your office or departmental logo. You are welcome to wear your regalia to process, as well. Staff will be seated in a special area.
Parking is reserved at the Cajundome for faculty and staff who attend Convocation. Show the gate volunteer your regalia or your UL Lafayette polo for entry to the reserved parking area.
Reception to Follow
After Convocation, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend the reception starting at approximately 4:30 p.m. There will be light refreshments and an opportunity to talk with students about the opportunities they have here at UL Lafayette.
